About us

Pocket money for the digital age.

We believe that understanding money is a skill worth learning early, and that the best way to learn it is by doing.

Why we built it

Seeing how naturally children take to technology is what inspired our founder, Usman, to build Sonik Pocket: something that feels like play, but is tied to real goals and real choices.

In Sonik Pocket, children earn real pocket money for real effort, then decide what to do with it. Feeling the difference between spending today and saving for later teaches more than being told about it ever could.

Sonik Pocket is made for children aged 5 to 12, and it is free to use, so that it is within reach of every family.

No family has to add money to use it, either. A mission can be rewarded in SP Points, which cost nothing, and children swap them for rewards their guardian sets, such as choosing the film tonight. Every family is welcome, with or without money.

What we are here to do

  • Our aim

To help children make their own decisions with their pocket money, and to understand what spending and saving mean over time.

  • Our vision

To bring pocket money into the digital age, with learning from the real world built in.

  • Our mission

To give tomorrow’s grown-ups the money skills they will need.

Earn, Learn, Save and Spend

Everything a child does in Sonik Pocket comes back to four habits. They are practised, not just explained.

  • Earn

A mission, a job well done and a reward that feels deserved.

  • Learn

A money question at the moment it matters: just before they buy.

  • Save

A goal to work towards, and the patience to get there.

  • Spend

Their own choice, made with money they earned themselves.

Our research

72%

of guardians find it difficult to discuss financial education with their children. From our research with Strathclyde University.
